Gozo blood donation session Xewkija CentreDuring the month of June, the National Blood Donation Service will be holding blood donation sessions in Gozo in order to help meet the challenge of maintaining a good blood reserve.

Also on June the 14th, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day. The theme for this year is – Be There for Someone Else, Give Blood, Share Life.

The World Health Organisation campaign for 2018 is aimed at blood donation as an action of solidarity. It highlights the fundamental human values of altruism, respect, empathy and kindness which underline and sustain voluntary unpaid blood donation systems.

World Blood Donor Day is celebrated to thank voluntary blood donors and acknowledge them and encourage blood donation and new donors, especially by representing how blood donations have saved and changed lives.

The service is inviting the public to donate blood on one of the dates shown below, at the new District Health Centre in Xewkija. Blood donations are no longer be held at the Gozo General Hospital.

The new Centre is located in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.

Sundays

10th June from 8: 00am to 1: 00pm

24th June from 8: 00am to 1: 00pm

Tuesdays

5th June from 1: 00pm-5: 00pm

19th June from 1: 00pm-5: 00pm.

It is important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand.
