Gozo Alive weekend hailed as a huge success – Minister for Gozo

Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana expressed her satisfaction that after months of preparations – the Gozo Alive, three-day cultural and musical spectacle, resulted in a huge success.
Dr Caruana in a statement, said that the aim behind Gozo Alive was to get the island mobilised. She said that local councils and organisations had participated wholeheartedly in the activity.
Gozo Alive was really to showcase what Gozo has to offer the tourist, such as cultural walks, sports and exhibitions, to name but a few, she said.
Thousands of people packed the main squares of Victoria on Saturday evening for musical concerts and artistic performances. The Minister added that, this was in addition to the activities there were held in each locality in Gozo during the day.
The Gozo Tourism Association CEO Joe Muscat welcomed the Gozo Alive event. He said that these types of festivals continue to ensure that Gozo is becoming recognised as a distinct tourist destination.
Dr Caruana said that Gozo Channel carried over 54,000 passengers between the two islands over the festival weekend.
The Minister thanked the organising board of Gozo Alive, the Police Force, the Civil Protection, the ERRC, Gozo Channel, local councils, the organisations and individuals involved in the Gozo cultural scene, as well as a number of volunteers who dedicated their time to this activity.
The Minister for Gozo concluded by thanking all those involved in demonstrating that “Gozo has potential as a destination for entertainment that is suitable for the whole family and for all ages.”
