Book launch: The Nadur Basilica in Gozo: Art – Architecture – Decoration

A new publication, ‘The Nadur Basilica in Gozo: Art – Architecture – Decoration,’ is having its official launch next month in Gozo.
The book is edited by Mark Sagona, with contributions by Daniel Meilak, Conrad Thake and Mark Sagona, and photography by Martin Attard, with a foreword written by Professor Keith Sciberras.
It has been published by the Nadur Parish Office in collaboration with the Department of Art and Art History, University of Malta.
The book tells the fascinating story of the art, architecture and decoration of the Nadur parish church, which has never been before written.
It is also the first time that all the more significant works of art are being studied academically and presented to the general public in one single volume accompanied by gorgeous full-colour photography.
The Nadur parish basilica, was remodelled by the important Maltese sculptor and architect Francesco Saverio Sciortino between 1907 and 1913.
The book launch will be on Thursday, the 7th of June, at the Nadur Basilica Gozo.The proceeding will be led by the Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech, with the contribution of Prof Keith Sciberras, Head, Department of Art and Art History, Faculty of Arts, University of Malta.
Everyone is warmly invited to attend this book launch. Refreshments will follow.
