New District Health Centre inaugurated in Xewkija

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne and Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, today officially opened a new District Health Centre in Xewkija, with the aim of offering better primary healthcare services in Gozo.
The Minister for Gozo said that it it will replace the previous health clinic, which was old, not accessible to all and did not meet the needs of the local residents.
The Centre will not only be offering GP services, but also new services, such as speech, language and nutrition. It will also serve as the blood bank for the island.
“It is the Government’s priority to offer health services in Gozo,” said Dr Caruana, adding that at last, after so many years of waiting, the people of Xewkija have a new Health Centre.
Minister Caruana thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for the investment in the Centre, together with its additional health services that are to be provided.
She stressed that the Government is committed to continue to improve primary care in the heart of Gozo’s communities.
