Minister for Gozo, Dr Justyne Caruana, has announced the publication of results  for the Ministry for Gozo Non-Governmental Organisations Assistance Scheme.
€89,400 will be awarded between 19 successful voluntary organisations by the Ministry for Gozo, for the realisation of small projects, events and Gozo initiatives through 2018.
Among the NGOs that qualified for financial assistance, were a number of cultural associations, musical societies, associations to raise awareness about social and medical conditions and those in the field of environment.
Minister Caruana pointed out that this scheme, is part of a programme of initiatives and projects grouped under – Project Gozo, with the aim to further strengthen and improve the social, cultural, economic and ecological fabric of Gozitan Society.
“This can be achieved through cooperation and networking between voluntary organisations and the Ministry for Gozo.”
The maximum amount of financial assistance that any voluntary NGO was able to receive was €5,000.
There were 36 submissions and the selection process was carried out jointly between the Ministry for Gozo and the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector.
The Minister for Gozo congratulated the voluntary organisations which participated in the scheme, praising their valuable role in the community.
She also stressed the Government’s commitment to continue to assist the voluntary sector and to support their work in Gozo.
