On the occasion of World Book Day, which is celebrated on the 23rd of April, the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, visited the Special Unit at the Sannat Primary School.
During the visit, Dr Caruana presented a number of books and digital material that had been selected by the teachers themselves, who, the Minister said, show such dedication and commitment in the education of their students.
The idea behind these learning tools is to provide an experience of reading by different means to ensure participation and inclusion.
The Minister praised the initiative and described a book as a treasure and a friend. “Although technology replaces the traditional book, meaning that you can also read on a tablet or other electronic device, a book still remains popular for many, and in 2017, 687. 2 million were sold globally, an increase of 3.3% over the previous year,” said Minister Caruana.
Minister Caruana concluded by saying, “books, in all their forms are a source of information, education, or a pleasant, fulfilling hobby.”
