According to data from the National Statistics Office, ferry crossings in the first quarter between Malta and Gozo registered increases compared to the corresponding quarter of 2017.
The NSO noted that, 1,121,001 passengers travelled between Malta and Gozo, up by 7.8 per cent, with the highest number of passengers recorded in March – 450,363, or 40.2 per cent of the total for the quarter.
The number of vehicles crossing also increased, this time by 5.9 per cent, totalling 339,266.
There were 5,259 trips in the first quarter, an increase of 0.8 per cent over the same period in 2017, with the majority of them taking place in March – 1,874 or 35.6 per cent of total trips.
Passenger traffic originating from Cirkewwa was busiest on Fridays and Saturdays, whereas highest numbers from Mgarr were recorded on Sundays and Saturdays.
