Minister for Gozo visits activities at the Gozo Lace Day

The Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana visited the activities at today’s Gozo Day Lace Day, which took place on the University of Malta – Gozo Campus.
Dr Caruana, speaking during the event, stressed the importance of local traditions of distinctive quality, which at one time was not only a means of earning a living for Gozitan families, but also they also gained a reputation for their prestige and quality.
She mentioned how the Ministry is supporting local crafts in several ways, such as schemes and training and promotion.
Dr Caruana said that the Ministry for Gozo supports programmes and courses provided in Gozo by the University, and expressed her satisfaction at the interest shown in Gozo, particularly in the lace making course.
During today’s event, Dr Consiglia Azzopardi addressed a seminar, new patterns were launched for this year and and souvenir bookmarks of the Azure Window.
The Minister for Gozo visited exhibitions which were put on by the Lace Guild – OIDFA and Koperattiva Griawdxija tal-Binilla u Artigjanat.
