On Saturday evening, P A X – The Puzzle that is Peace – took place at Ggantija Temples in Xaghra, presented by Gaulitana as past of the programme for this year’s Festival of Music
This perfect setting allowed installation artist, Helene Markstein to utilise `purified’ Gozo stones – washed in Gozo Fennel water – to form the word PAX.
There was short ritualistic dance by the Gozo Performance Group and musical interludes performed a number of local choirs, namely Voci Angeliche, Aurora Youth Choir, Gozo Community Choir and the Gaulitanus Choir.Audience members were invited to engage with the communal feeling by penning prayers for this peace process.
This community project, which is organised by Gozo Performance Group is based on the PAX outside St Francis Basilica, Assisi, Italy, whereby pilgrims offer peace prayers using Gozo stones as ‘prayers.’
‘Peace’ is the theme for installations, performance and an exhibition which will be part of this project.
