Over this Easter weekend, visitors to Gozo will have the opportunity to view an exhibition of the winning photographs from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, which was organised by Heritage Malta’s National Museum of Natural History.
These photographs are currently on display at Heritage Malta’s Gozo Area Office in the Citadel until the 30th of April.
There were three categories in the competition, Flora, Fauna and Marine. Heritage Malta said that as well as a winning photograph for each category, an overall winner was chosen from the ten finalists.
No less than 43 amateur photographers entered the competition, submitting over 340 images of flowers, birds, mammals, reptiles, fish and other animals.
Heritage Malta remarked that there were positive comments made by the judges on the high quality of the photographs submitted, as well as the various species “captured” in the images. In fact it was no easy task for judges to shortlist and choose the winning photographs, they said.
A number of the photographs submitted for this competition have also been reproduced on postcards and can be bought from all Heritage Malta shops.
The exhibition is open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm. Entrance is free.
