Journey – is the title of a new exhibition by Gozitan artist Mario Agius. On display will be a range of his sculptures – in wood, stone and marble – at Il-Hagar Museum in Victoria, Gozo.
Mario Agius (b. 1956) has manifested a fond inclination to sculpture and design from his early years. He began his artistic studies under the late Mons. Michelangelo Apap and furthered his studies in wood sculpture under artist Anton Agius (1933-2008).
The artist has a number of sculptures in private collections both locally and abroad including England, Italy, Germany and Switzerland.
His finest wood sculptures adorn churches all around the Maltese islands.
The exhibition will be inaugurated this Saturday, the 24th of March and will be available for the public to view until the 16th of April.
Il-Hagar Museum is located in St George’s Square and opening hours are 9am to 5pm Sunday to Saturday; entrance is free of charge.
