Gozitan Dr Anthony Galea wins National Public Speaking Competition

This year’s National Public Speaking Competition has been won by Gozitan Dr Anthony Galea from the Physical Oceanography Research Group within the Department of Geosciences at the Faculty of Science, University of Malta
The Competition was organised by the Junior Chamber International Malta (JCI Malta) in collaboration Malta’s National Youth Council and the English-Speaking Union of Malta.
Dr Galea passed through the Semifinals last Friday and won the contest on Sunday. This year’s topic was “The best way to predict the future is to invent it.”
Dr Galea impressed the panel of judges with his 5 minute speech, entitled “Inventing the future through science” featuring the Bernoulli principle. The National Final also included a 3 minute impromptu speech in front of an audience.
The declared winner stated that, “it was an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge in improving public speaking skills.”
He is now set to represent Malta in the 2018 JCI European conference which will be held in Riga Latvia, from the 19th till the 22nd of June.
