This Saturday, the Ministry for Gozo has said that the Citadel and the Ministry for Gozo will be joining other monuments and landmarks in around 7,000 cities from all over the world that are switching off lights between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.
Earth Hour first started as a symbolic lights out event in Sydney in 2007, and is now the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, inspiring millions of people to take action for our planet and nature.
Coordinated by WWF and other volunteer organisations, Earth Hour’s greatest strength is the power of people.
Millions of people around the world join this initiative to create awareness on the usage of clean energy in order to reduce harmful emissions leaving a negative effect on the climate and the atmosphere.
This year marks the 11th anniversary of the launch of Earth Hour all over the world.
