Sannat Council receives funding for greening the local community

Agreements have been signed with six local councils, including that of Sannat in Gozo, to receive funds towards greening their local communities.
The Ministry of Environment under the project Greening Communities, is allocating funds to the local councils of Pietà, Qormi, Zabbar, Mdina, Swieqi and Sannat.
The project for Sannat will see the planting of 41 trees and 12,522 shrubs in different sites including Gnien tal-Bidwi, Triq Marsilja, Triq 28 ta’ April and Pjazza Cocco Palmeri.
The Ministry said that the allocation to be shared between the six local councils will be €180,000, 75% of the funds will be given upon signing the agreement and 25% of the funds on the completion of the project.
The Minister for Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change José Herrera explained that, since the beginning of this project in 2014, there have been 27 local councils that have benefited through a total allocation of almost € 900,000.
