The National Youth Council of Malta ( KNZ) is urging all parties involved in the current industrial dispute in MCAST “to return to the negotiating tables so as to reach an agreement.”
The Council in a statement today, called on the involved parties “to keep the students informed on the ongoing situation through their MCAST emails and relevant student organisations.”
KNZ concluded by saying that “the MCAST administration should make sure that the students are not negatively affected by the dispute. The Council hopes that a reasonable solution is reached which benefits everyone.”
The MUT had last week issued a list of directives to members which started on Monday, the 22nd of January, with a strike of 2 hours each, between 10am and 12pm for Thursday the 25th and Friday the 26th of January.
The Union in a statement had said that, “following intensive meetings between the MUT, MCAST management and the Industrial Relations Unit (IRU), it is clear that there is no willingness from the IRU to reach an agreement on how to give lecturers what they are due.”
