February is fast approaching, the month associated with Valentine’s Day, and in Gozo this year the Feast of Love will be given more importance.
This was announced during a press conference by the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana at the Villa Rundle Gardens in Victoria.
For two weeks in February these gardens will present a different image, when between the 3rd and 18th of February the theme of love will be showcased in the tranquil and serene setting of the Villa Rundle.
Dr Caruana said that on the weekend of the 17th and 18th of February, the gardens will host a market for craft products related to the feast of St. Valentine’s Day, while in the main squares of Victoria, there will be entertainment for the public provided by Puse and Mae and Keith.
In Independence Square, the artist Marina will portray the messages of love related to this feast, through art in chalk. In the Citadel Cultural Centre, students attending the Visual & Performing Arts School of Gozo will be holding an exhibition related to the day of love – entitled ‘Lilek Inhobb’ (You Are The One I Love) Also at the Centre will be a collective art exhibition by various artists – Habbejtek (I Love You).
So visit Gozo during these two weeks of Valentine’s and take the opportunity to enjoy, culture, entertainment, local food, and of course spend time with the one you love.
Minister Caruana said that this is the first thematic festival of the year in Gozo, and it is the intention to increase themed festivals such as this throughout the year, in line with the announced budget measures by the Ministry
“Through theses measures, the Ministry for Gozo together with voluntary organisations and commercial entities, will be creating an activity which will benefit not just commercial establishments, but also other organisations and all those who visit Gozo,” said Dr Caruana.
