Great afternoon of racing for Gozo Motocross Championship - Round 4The fourth round of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Association Championship took place on Sunday at Ta’ Xhajma Track.

It was a great afternoon of racing for fans and motocross enthusiasts, who had the opportunity to watch Gozitan and Maltese riders take part in the most challenging and determined races of the season so far.

In Class A, nine riders participated in one of the most challenging events ever. Nothing was truly determined until the very end.

All of the riders put on an incredible show of motocross racing. Unfortunately Joseph Bigeni had bike trouble so he had to opt out of the races.Great afternoon of racing for Gozo Motocross Championship - Round 4Malta champion Clayton Camilleri came in third, while David Dimech won second place. Camilleri’s younger brother Kyle, won this category, while Steve Xuereb placed fourth just 1 point behind Camilleri.

Etienne Bigeni, Stefan Dimech, Robert Spiteri and Keith Bugeja dazed the audience with their incredible stamina and determination.

Class B was just as challenging with Nataniel Camilleri on his Yamaha YZ 250cc acquiring maximum points followed closely by Matthew Zammit and Jorn Stellini respectively. Maltese veteran rider, Lewis Debono also joined this category.

In Class C, Anthony Fenech did very well, he was followed by Mark Camilleri who was 5 points behind. Matthew Spiteri showed great determination in his bid to place well, achieving third in this class, while Raymond Caruana, Steve Cassar and Emma Xuereb continued to pursue their competitors.

Association President, Frank Xuereb, presented trophies to each winner.

Gozo Motocross Association gave thanks to CVC for their constant support by filming today’s event, which will later feature in SportGhawdex on TVM2, presented by John Busuttil from Gozo Sports Board, every Monday at 6.30pm.

The GMA said that Sunday’s event was also supported by ‘Service with a smile on time, tiles, plastering and gypsum.’

The Association said that the next event will be a FunRace filled with many different events.. Classes A, B and C will incorporate a rider-shuffle, followed by a special 125cc only race to which veterans are also invited.

Another addition to the day will be a beginners’ race that welcomes children and adolescents. This activity will take place on Sunday, the 28th of January at Ta’ Xhajma motocross track. Races will start at 1pm.

The Association said that it encourages and welcomes new riders.

      I was there and I took two tourists with me who utterly enjoyed the event. I could only go because I read about the coming event on Gozo News and I heartfully thank tbe Editor for informing us of this and of most events happening in Gozo. THANK YOU
