An event to celebrate the participants of the Gozo Live/Gozo College 2017 Writing Participation, was held at the Gozo College Middle School in Victoria.
More than 100 students, parents and teachers the attended the event. Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana – the honoured guest for the occasion, handed out the certificates.
Dr Caruana said that the Ministry for Gozo gladly supported the Young Writers of Gozo. “An excellent initiative for our students to put pen to paper to express themselves.”
There were 63 entries from students of ages from 5 years old to 17. All students who entered the participation received a certificate of achievement and a copy of the book containing selected entries.
The organisers said that, “because of financial constraints not all entries could be included in the book but every student who entered had their name and school entered into the book.” This is the 4th education of the ‘Young Writers of Gozo’ book.
A number of students were called up to read excerpts from their entries and they were interviewed by the education officers presiding over the event.
Refreshments were served after the formal proceedings. Students were reminded of the 2018 Gozo Love Gozo College Writing Competition which will be launched over the coming days.
The organisers said that this will be a creative writing competition with generous cash prizes ending in early April.
Details will appear in www.gozonews.com on the Gozo Live facebook page and will be sent to all Heads of the schools.
More details and rules will also be available from Gozo Live at firstname.lastname@example.org.
