The BUS 20 campaign has been launched today by the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg – which offers free public transport for all 16-20-year-old tallinja card holders as of 1st January, until the end of this year.
Following the successful scheme last year, that offered free public transport to 18-year-olds, through which 5,000 benefitted, resulting in a total refund of €206,000 in credit by the Government to these same youths.
The Government, through Budget 2018, announced an extension of this benefit to a wider population.
28,000 individuals are eligible to benefit from this scheme, while anyone eligible who applies for a tallinja card will get it free of charge, Minister Borg said. “This is being done with the aim of encouraging more young people, including those who have obtained their driving licence, to use public transport.”
