If you visit the Citadel in Gozo this Saturday, you may find yourself in a completely different century, in fact, the setting will be the late eighteenth century, 1798 to be exact.
Visitors will be able to enjoy an interactive experience that takes them back to the time of the last days of the Order of St John.
The Historical Reenactment Group of Malta (HRGM) will be bringing to life the Citadel of two centuries ago.
You will be greeted at the Gate by armed guards, and from there you can stroll along the narrow passageways, tour the Old Prisons, watch food of the period being prepared, observe military drill, and encounter townsfolk along the way.
This special interactive experience will also include free, guided tours and a lecture on Gozitan corsairs of the period.
So don’t miss this opportunity to see life at the Citadel as it was in 1798, taking place this Saturday, the 6th of January, from 10am to 4pm.
HRGM is Malta’s leading reenactment society, with an exciting passion for history. Established in 1998, the group brings history back to life through reenactment events featuring the late period of the Knights in Malta, as well as the time of the French Blockade.
