Making Our Way: On the concept of experience – by Prof. John Ryder, is the tittle of Philosophy Sharing Gozo’s first public talk for 2018.
Born in New York City in 1951, Ryder is a professor and former Rector of Khazar University in Baku, Azerbaijan, and Provost at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. He is currently the Provost at the American University of Malta.
Prof. Ryder is a specialist in American philosophy, especially American philosophical naturalism and pragmatism, its historical development, contemporary applicability, and its reception outside the U.S.
Many of his papers have been translated into other languages and published in Europe, and Ryder is a frequent speaker at universities and conferences across Europe and the US. Between 2002 and 2012 Ryder served as president of the Alliance of Universities for Democracy (AUDEM), which through annual conferences in Europe brings together universities and academics from the US and Central and Eastern Europe and from all academic fields.
The Society said that this event is open to anyone who wishes to participate. The talk will be delivered in English, entrance is free, and no reservations are required.
