Strong winds forecast for last weekend of 2017, with a mild New Year

The Met Office has said that no rain expected on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, which is anticipated to be warmer than the average with a maximum temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and the lowest temperature forecast for the weekend is 10 degrees.
It said that as this year draws to a close, a northwesterly wind is expected to blow throughout Saturday and Sunday, becoming moderate during the New Year’s Eve celebrations, and light to moderate westerly on the first day of the year.
Showers are expected tomorrow, however, the skies should clear up just in time for New Year’s Eve, becoming fine on the morning of January 1st and mainly sunny for the rest of the day.
Mercury levels will rise from 16°C on Saturday, to a comfortable maximum temperature of 18°C on the first day of 2018, which, the Met Office said, is 2 degrees above the monthly mean for this time of year. The minimum temperature on New Year’s Day is expected to be 13°C.
Meteorological records show that 2015 started on the coldest note yet, when the temperature dropped to a minimum of 2.1°C.
