The Gaulitanus Choir will once again be ushering in the New Year in on a musical note with the 6th edition of – A New Year’s Toast.
There will be a festive musical repertoire intended to celebrate the New Year with an “oomph” the choir said.
The programme will consist of Christmassy numbers – such as the main excerpts from the oratorio. The Story of Christmas by American composer Henry Alexander Matthews and a special medley compiled by Colin Attard entitled Ding, dong! The Christmas bells are ringing! – will alternate with a choral selection from Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen.
These vocal numbers will be juxtaposed with a few instrumental excerpts which, the choir said, “together with a few surprises, should further spice up the evening.”
The Gaulitanus Choir, its soloists and some guest instrumentalists, will feature in the concert, while the Gaulitanus resident pianist Stephen Attard will accompany, with the choir’s artistic-musical director Colin Attard conducting.
A New Year’s Toast will be held at the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz, Gozo, on Monday, the 1st of January starting at 7.45pm. Entrance for the event is free.
