Days of rejoice and happiness during this Christmas period can be a period of suffering for those who lost a loved one or cannot make ends meet.
There are various initiatives being taken to try to help those who are suffering and one of the regular works of charity carried out by the Mothers’ Union Gozo, is the distribution of Christmas food hampers to people who are in need.
The organisation, which is greatly involved in Christian care for families, this year, also carried out fundraising and collected a large amount of food supplies to make Christmas hampers.
These were handed over to the Order of Malta in Gozo to be distributed to over fourteen families. Toys and gifts for children were also presented.
Chris Galea from the Order of Malta, also mentioned the cases of suffering, as well as the special care needed by so many children also affected by various problems, including those with ADHD, lack of concentration, and many other students who also experience bullying in schools and in the community. He also highlighted the plight of children who come from broken families.
The Order of Malta thanked the Mothers’ Union, led by Susan Warner and the other volunteers for their commitment.
