This Christmas, the Society ‘Christmas in Xaghra’ is offering a unique opportunity to see 11 artistic cribs, static, mechanical and a live one and all of the many Christmas exhibitions being put up in Xaghra, Gozo. This one time cultural tour takes visitors by mini bus round the town and is an occasion not to be missed.
The tour is being held on Saturday, the 27th of December 2008. An experienced guide will accompany the group with a running commentary in English. The tour will visit the Xaghra Basilica beautifully decorated for Christmas. Highlights of the tour will be a representation of the Nativity with a Live Crib held in a two hundred year old farmhouse, and an exhibition of crafts all with a touch of Christmas and a photographic exhibition of Christmas celebrations in Xaghra covering the last four decades.
A short break during the tour will include the traditional home brewed black coffee (tat-tacci) with the option of distilled orange blossom water and village biskuttini all of which are particular Xaghra brands.
Transport by mini bus will leave from near the entrance to Ggantija Temples at 5.15 p.m.
Entrance to all places to be visited is free but a small contribution of €3.00 to cover transport, guide services and snacks is being asked. As the number is very limited it is advisable to book early to avoid disappointment. Booking, on a first come first served basis is open through Mr Ivan Attard on 7928 4444 or by e-mail to presepju@hotmail.com
