David Dimech wins Class A in Round 3 of Gozo Motocross Championship

The third round of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship, took place at Ta’ Xhajma Track on Sunday.
Organised by the Gozo Motocross Association, the event saw the participation of 26 riders, watched by large crowds of enthusiasts and fans all cheering on their favourite riders.
The GMA said that the competition proved to be unpredictable and changeable, “with a dramatic atmosphere of emotion, noise, expectation and excitement.”
Riders of Class A dominated the day, putting on the most incredible competitive show. Top rider of the Championship classification, Etienne Bigeni, together with Steve Xuereb, Robert Spiteri, Joseph Bigeni and Keith Bugeja, raced with their Maltese counterparts Stefan Dimech, David Dimech and Kyle Camilleri.All riders fought hard to place in the first three positions in the three heats. David Dimech won this category followed closely by Xuereb, who was short by two points. Camilleri came in third place. Therefore Bigeni is still leading Class A of the Yamaha Championship Classification.
Class B was just as challenging, with Nataniel Camilleri, Jorn Stelllini and Joseph Luke Gauci all striving hard for first place. The GMA said that, Camilleri who is top of the Class B Championship list ended up first while Stellini followed in second place. Gauci placed third.
In Class C, Anthony Fenech did quite well followed closely by young Matthew Spiteri. Unfortunately Matthew Buttigieg had engine trouble during the first heat, therefore losing a considerable amount of points. Mark Camilleri, beaten by Spiteri came in third place, while Fenech came out on top in this round. Fenech is leading this class.Gozo Motocross Association advised that the fourth round of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2017/18 will take place on Sunday, the 14th of January 2018 at Ta’ Xhajma Track. Races start at 1:00.
The Association said that it encourages. and welcomes new riders.
