Tales of - Legends With Legs exhibition inaugurated at the CittadellaLegends With Legs – an exhibition of work by Year 5 students attending Gozo College Victoria Primary School, also known as the `Happy School,’ was inaugurated on Friday evening at the Cittadella Cultural Centre in Victoria.

The pieces on display in the exhibition were completed by the students over the past months during a Kreattiv Project.

The children had the opportunity to express themselves through art, but in an environment without books, tables and chairs, uniform or bell ringing – in fact, through the experience of an immersive workshop, held at the Gozo Visual and Performing Arts School – Xewkija.

They discovered Gozitan legends, which they then retold to others through art, music, drama and movement.

The legends went on to form the basis of three workshops, which were also documented by videos. Eventually a short film was produced for each story completed by the individual student groups.

The films were shown at Friday’s inauguration, together with nine pieces of art, three from each group, that the children created during the project.

The School said that this project has offered a unique experience for their students and clearly demonstrated that children, when given space and opportunity, are able to go beyond their expectations.
