Gozo Minister celebrates Universal Children's Day with school visitsThe UN Universal Children’s Day is celebrated on the 20th of November each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare.

To mark this important day, the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana made visits to several schools across Gozo.

Minister Caruana the Primary Schools in Qala, Laura Vicuna in Ghasri, Ghajnsielem and finally Kercem.

Also, the Minister for Gozo also had the opportunity to visit Gozo College Middle School and students of the Sacred Heart Minor Seminary in Victoria.

During her visits, in this run-up to the festive Christmas celebrations, the Minister was accompanied by the official Christmas mascots Nanna Tona and Nannu Pawlu, who will be used by the Ministry for Gozo as an integral part of the Christmas festive programme.

Minister Caruana had one message for this special day for children, which was common to all schools visited – The two senior roles of the grandfather and grandmother, who are clear examples of Gozitan and Maltese culture and true symbols of solidarity and generosity, through them children have the opportunity to learn to be more generous with their peers and others.

She said that the motto chosen by the Ministry for Universal Children’s Day is – Do One Thing for a Better World – encompassing the true sense of the festivities which will celebrated in the coming month.

Dr Caruana explained how children play an important role in our society and demonstrate from an early age how they are capable of being pious in the same society.

“Therefore children should have a voice to talk about what hurts them, because children are a mainstay of society and in a few years will be the country’s leaders,” said the Minister.
