Gozo lecture to commemorate UNESCO Audiovisual Heritage Day

A reminder that next Friday, there will be a public lecture -Memorja – on the oral sound, and visual archive of Malta, which will be delivered by James Baldacchino to commemorate UNESCO Audiovisual Heritage Day.
The Education, Science and Culture Centre of Gozo, is inviting the general public to attend the lecture, which is taking place at the Medieval Chapel of Santa Cecilja, Ghajnsielem.
It is being organised by UNESCO Associated Schools – Coordination Malta and the Education, Science and Culture Centre, in collaboration with the National Archives of Malta.
The lecture is on Friday, the 24th of November, starting at 7.00pm. It will be delivered in English and will take approximately one hour.
The World Day for Audiovisual Heritage takes place every 27th of October as a commemoration of the adoption, in 1980 by the 21st General Conference, of the Recommendation for the Safeguarding and Preservation of Moving Images.
This commemorative day was chosen by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) in 2005 to raise of awareness of the significance of and preservation risks recorded sound and audiovisual documents (films, sound and video recordings, radio and television programmes).
