Malta international Airport said that it is conducting a series of exercises to ensure a seamless transition period, of the baggage handling system upgrade.
It has advised that a full simulation exercise will be carried out this coming Monday, between 4.00pm and 6.00pm, with the airport operating a manual baggage feed at this time.
MIA said that, “while there is only a slim possibility of complete baggage processing malfunctions, Malta International Airport is conducting preparedness exercises, aimed at testing the robustness of the company’s business continuity plan.”
“These ensure that the airport team, stakeholders operating at the terminal, and back-up infrastructure are fully equipped to handle such a situation in a way that causes minimal inconvenience to passengers,” it said.
The BHS upgrade forms part of Malta International Airport’s Terminal Reconfiguration Project through which the company has invested €12 million in infrastructural improvements with the aim of further enhancing its guests’ airport experience.
