Architect Edward Scerri wins Award for San Lawrenz Square project

Architect Edward Scerri, has been awarded the Malta Architect Award 2017 for Urban Design, for his work on the design of the San Lawrenz Square regeneration project in Gozo.
The Awards, which are organised by iMNG Ltd, with the support of the Planning Authority, aim to raise public awareness about the value of architecture and culture of excellence that certain architects bring to projects, no matter the limits of size and scope.
The winners were selected by a jury composed of both local and foreign professionals within the field. The jury was also supported by a technical team, the members of which were experts in their own fields in accordance with the categories’ topics.
On the day following the Awards Ceremony, the Chairperson of the Planning Board Architect Vincent Cassar, brought the judges to San Lawrenz to meet Mayor Noel Formosa, as well as to see how the square functions.
Mayor Formosa said that the delegation had encouraging words for the idea behind the regeneration of the square.
San Lawrenz Local Council congratulated Edward Scerri for this Award and expressed satisfaction that the project had not only been praised for its functionality, but also on the technical expertise of its design.
