Gozitan Councils assistance scheme for restoration of historical sites

The Ministry for Gozo, has launched for the first time in Gozo, a new scheme to assist Gozitan Local Councils in the restoration of historic sites.
Speaking at the launch, the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana explained that the primary objective of the scheme is to incentivise the Local Councils to identify historic sites in their localities that need to be restored.
The approved projects will have 90% of the cost co-financed by the Ministry for Gozo and 10% by the Local Council. The maximum amount that can be given to any project by the Ministry for Gozo will be €10,000.
Dr Caruana urged the Gozitan Local Councils to take advantage of this scheme through which they will be able to help preserve the country’s cultural heritage.
“Several sites of historical significance can be found around Gozo and it is therefore our duty to do everything possible to preserve them, not just for us, but for the generations to come,” said Minister Caruana.
Interested Local Councils must submit an application no later than noon on Friday, the 1st of December 2017. For all necessary information and to obtain guidelines and criteria Local Councils should send an e-mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org
