Gozo commemoration ceremony for Remembrance Day next Sunday

Next Sunday in Gozo, there will be a commemorative prayer service and wreath laying ceremony in honour of the victims of the two world wars of the 20th century – Remembrance Day – Jum it-Tifkira.
The commemorative ceremony will be presided over by the Minister for Gozo, Dr Justyne Caruana, at Independence Square, Victoria, starting at 10.30am.
As the clock on the Citadel strikes the eleventh hour, a minute of silence will be held, this will be followed by the Last Post and the Reveille.
The ceremony will continue with the laying of traditional red poppy wreaths at the foot of the monument commemorating Gozitan victims, who perished between the years 1939-1945 by enemy action during the World War II.
The monument, known also as Christ the King Monument, is a 1949 work of Italian sculptor Carlo Pisi and was unveiled by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II on 7th May 1954.
Remembrance Day commemoration ceremony is on Sunday, the 5th of November. Guests are kindly asked to be seated by 10.15am.
