The public, especially children, are being warned by the Superintendent of Public Health, against using cosmetic contact lenses for Halloween, which are available in local stores and over the internet.
It said in a statement that the use of these cosmetic contact lenses may put the person at risk of developing painful eye injuries, serious eye infections and in worst cases, a risk of partial or permanent loss of vision.
“The use of contact lenses by inexperienced persons for the first time, can bring risk of scratching the cornea, exposing the eye to serious infections. Symptoms of eye infections may include redness, itching, swelling, discharge, pain, or problems with vision.”
The statement said that, “medical advice should be sought immediately if anyone develops signs of an eye infection.”
