“While fully understanding the concerns of the Union of Cabin Crew,” the Gozo Tourism Association said in a statement today that, “it strongly believes that the ongoing industrial action at this sensitive time for Air Malta will have irreparable consequences to the tourism industry in Malta.”
“Consequences that will cascade on to the sister island and affect badly the sensitive tourism industry on Gozo,” the GTA added.
“Whilst recognising every union’s right to defend its members,” the GTA has called on the Union of Cabin Crew to “be prudent in its decisions.”
The Association added that the National Airline “remains the lifeline, to the tourism industry” and it appealed to the Union of Cabin Crew to “follow its claims around the discussion table by sensitive and logical reasoning, keeping in mind the strategic role, that Airmalta plays in the connectivity to Malta and Gozo.”
The GTA concluded by saying that “Gozo like Malta, does need a stable tourism climate, and we augur that the Union of Cabin Crew together with Air Malta reach an amicable agreement for the benefit of both parties and the tourism industry in general.”
