Maltese Society united to find killers of Daphne Caruana Galizia - Sant“Maltese society is united with the aim of finding out who murdered Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia,” said Maltese MEP Alfred Sant.

Dr Sant was speaking to journalist Caroline de Camaret in a live interview with France 24 from Paris.

He said, “this murder could be a political crime, it could also be a commercial crime because she was about to embark on investigations regarding drug and human trafficking. But it could also be a revengeful crime.”He added that, “all options are on the table.”

He continued by saying that ” this was a brutal attack. It’s a very serious case which has completely upset the habits of the Maltese who are not used to similar crimes.”

The MEP remarked that, “she represented a person who had quite a lot of legitimate interest in what she carried out. She carried her investigations with a lot of vigour and did not mince her words. Lately she had attacked the Leader of the Opposition in quite a brutal way, who in my opinion was from the party she belonged to.”

He said that, “Mrs Caruana Galizia was a very popular journalistic personality, she had carried out several investigations, some of which were not so well executed but others were very good.”

“She managed to penetrate the political, commercial and social circles of high society and she had quite a number of stories which disturbed a lot of people,” added Dr Sant.

“It is absolutely unbelievable that a person like her had to finally succumb to such a crime. She made lots of enemies, but one needs people who carry out such things in society,” he said.

Caroline de Camaret queried on possible Mafia involvement in the murder of Mrs Caruana Galizia, Dr Sant said he would not exclude anything. “But money laundering happens everywhere, in Switzerland, in Paris, everywhere. It’s not only Malta which is linked to money laundering.”

“Our financial system is finally very robust, modelled in a very effective way in order to weed out certain types of operations. But frankly, saying that this crime is related to money laundering is going a bit too fast. It’s absolutely too early to conclude this,” Dr Sant told France 24.

“This murder has completely shocked Maltese society, and it is necessary to react. The Maltese government has reacted by asking for the help of foreign investigative services, from Holland and the USA in order to carry out a thorough investigation about what has happened, said Dr Sant.

Why doesn’t Malta also unite to get out of the EU and get their country back which caused Malta to get populated with crime?? Shame on Malta for joining the EU and selling and opening their once beautiful island to the EU. Alot of these criminals would not even have heard of Malta if it wasn’t for the EU.
