Still I Rise – Couture fashion show in aid of Dar Guzeppa Debono

A fashion show in aid of Dar Guzeppa Debono is taking place at the Citadel in November, by Gozitan VickyAnn Xuereb, a professional dressmaker.
“The idea of a fashion event in aid of Dar Guzeppa Debono,” explained VickyAnn, “stemmed from an interview Maria Attard gave on the media stating that the home is in need of financial assistance in order to keep running.”
She added, “my thoughts immediately turned to what I could do to help benefit this cause, hence using my talents as designer and seamstress to raise some funds.”
This collection entitled – Still I Rise – “empowers a woman to move through life with passion and zest. In her own universe she is fearless, she is strong, she is powerful,” said VickyAnn.
Maya Angelou said it best “I go forth alone, and stand as ten thousand.”
VickyAnn Xuereb, born in 1966 in Sydney Australia, has been a dressmaker since the age of 14. Raised in Xaghra. her mother. Maria. a dressmaker herself, taught her the trade. As a young child, she was raised cutting cloths. designing :red sewing dolls clothes, including creating her own wardrobe.
Her first client friend was way back in 1980 and since then she has never looked back. From children’s clothes to brides and bridesmaids dresses, from evening wear to theatre and carnival productions.
Her creative and sewing abilities have turned her into a professional dressmaker whose original and creative work has put her name high on the list of the local fashion scene.
Vicky lives by the words ‘Omnia suere optime.- sewing every piece of cloth in the best way possible.
This collection entitled – Still I Rise – is a couture collection, where fashion meets literature. It is taking place on Saturday, the 4th of November, starting at 7.30pm at the Cittadella Cultural Centre in Victoria, Gozo.
Donations received will benefit Dar Guzeppa Debono.
