The Ministry for Gozo has issued a call for a feasibility study on the possibility of a park and ride service for Mgarr harbour, announced the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana.
In a statement, she said that the Government is aware of the challenges that Gozitan workers and students face who have to cross daily to Malta for work or studies. Among these challenges is parking, because of a lack of available space.
The Government has proposed a park and ride service for peak hours, Dr Caruana explained that this was one of the first projects undertaken by the Ministry.
This initial phase is the call for a feasibility study. The question of recommendations for the operation of the park and ride, must also be addressed, the Minister said.
The public call was issued on the 22nd of September and closes on the 13th of October. Included in the call is also the consultation process to be undertaken as part of a wider exercise, and Minister Caruana urged the public to the take part in the consultation phase, particularly anyone who would be affected by this initiative.
Dr Caruana concluded by stating that the Government “is determined to make a difference to the lives of Gozitans, especially those who face daily hardship crossing between the islands.”
