Gozo Minister launches campaign investment to keep Gozo cleanerThe Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana has announced a campaign to keep Gozo cleaner, together with a €150,000 investment in new machinery for cleaning areas around the island, using equipment that can deal with the different challenges.

The Minister remarked that “we have a responsibility to maintain cleanliness, both for Gozitans themselves, as well as for all those who visit us.”

“The work being carried out is through plans made at meetings with local councils which were dedicated to coordinate the work for a cleaner Gozo, as well as a conference involving all stakeholders, including Government entities and private sector,” said Minister Caruana.Gozo Minister launches campaign investment to keep Gozo cleanerShe explained that Government employees from the public hygiene section will join teams of volunteers to clean various parts of Gozo, both on land and under the sea. “This work will be done according to an agreed schedule every month.”

Dr Caruana stressed the need to mobilise everyone to heighten awareness and achieve faster results. “Central among all this work is the involvement of children. The character – Broxkinu – has been created, aimed as an educational tool for children.”

The Minister for Gozo thanked employees and all the volunteers for their work in helping to keep the island clean, and expressed her satisfaction with the general interest in this campaign.Gozo Minister launches campaign investment to keep Gozo cleanerAt the same time she urged the public to continue to participate in this campaign by reporting any problems to the Ministry on 80075556 or by e-mail at servizz.mgoz@gov.mt
