Santa Lucija’s spectacular Celebration of Light on Ghar Ilma Hill

Santa Lucija in Gozo will be the place to be, when, as the sun goes down, Ghar Ilma Hill will be lit up in spectacular fashion with many hundreds of flaming lanterns and torches lighting up the night sky; a Celebration of Light – Fjakkolata.
This is a unique moment to inspire everyone, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Gozitan countryside surrounding the heart of this quaint village.
Visitors from all over the island will come to enjoy this spectacular scene from St. Lucija Square, where there will also be the chance to savour local food and unique hospitality, with the accompaniment of Ta’ Verna Folk Group.
The Fjakkolata has been taking place in the village for over 30 years, in celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, which falls on the 13th of October.
An evening of a Celebration of Light is taking place on Sunday, the 8th of October, the torches will start being lit from 7.00pm onwards, on Ghar Ilma Hill.
