Gozo Minister welcomes Queen’s Baton Relay to the island

This weekend the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana, greeted in Gozo the Malta Olympic Committee, together with members from the Commonwealth Games organisation team.
Gozo was also part of the Queen’s Baton Relay, where is has visited Ghasri and Ghajnsielem.
Dr Caruana said that the message she conveyed to the visitors was that of unity and peace through sports.
The Gold Coast 2018 Queen’s Baton Relay was launched in March this year at Buckingham Palace, signalling the official countdown to the start of the Games.
The Baton carries a message from the Head of the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth II and this year the Relay is set to be the longest in Commonwealth Games history.
The Queen’s Baton Relay is in Malta and Gozo between until Monday, the 25th of September.
Covering 230,000km over 388 days, the Baton will make its way through the six Commonwealth regions of Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and Oceania, until finally arriving in Australia.
