Marsalforn team wins Grand Finale of Giochi it’s a Knockout

The Giochi it’s a Knockout Games came to an end in a marvellous finale on Sunday evening in Marsalforn.
The winners from the respective villages met in competition to be the overall champions. This year the champions are Marsalforn, winning the event with 28 pts.The Marsalforn competitors were a youth team, who were well prepared and dominated most of the games.
The promenade in Marsalforn was turned into a games arena, with crowds of people cheering on their teams and enjoying the great night of fun, games, singers and dancers.The games opened with the entertainment, followed with several games on the beach including canoe and paddle boat races with the help of Marsalforn watersports.
Then the water games continued on the promenade, with the Duck race, kangaroo race, building puzzles of iconic places around Gozo, building an arcade, treasure hunt, the best waiter, grape vine completion and finally the very popular, tug-of-war.Ghajnsielem were the runners up behind Marsalforn with 23 pts; Xaghra 20 pts; and Xewkija with 19 pts.
The show compared by Mr Joe Louis Xiberras and Ms Sandra Grech, was also accompanied with Maltese and Gozitan singers and dancers.
Games were also organised for the public where they participated in a tug-of-war games, with the chance to win several prizes.
At the end the champions Marsalforn were presented with a trophy and medals by the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana, and computer visual games presented by Mr Ray Abela manager of TcTc.
Dr Caruana also presented other participants with medals and vouchers from Arkadia, Errea, Ta penellu restaurant, Bartalo catering, Perfection hair cut’s vouchers and Odysea.The organisers gave thanks to the Ministry for Gozo, TcTc, Arkadia, Gozo sports Board, EcoGozo, www.gozonews.com and all the sponsors.

This is the final classification between the 4 finalists. 4 pts are awarded for 1st place, 3 pts for 2nd, 2 pts for 3rd place and 1 pt for 4th place.
