Celebration of Light – Fjakkolata – a traditional and spectacular illumination of candles and flaming torches lighting up the night sky in Gozo.
Santa Lucija will be the place to be, when, as the sun goes down, Ghar Ilma Hill will be lit up in spectacular fashion with many hundreds of flaming lanterns and torches.
This is a unique moment to inspire everyone, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Gozitan countryside surrounding the heart of this quaint village of Santa Lucija.
The Fjakkolata has been taking place in the village for over 30 years, in celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, which falls on the 13th of October.
It attracts visitors from all over this island, and whilst enjoying this spectacular scene from St. Lucija Square, you will also be able to savour local food and a unique hospitality, with the accompaniment of Ta’ Verna Folk Group.
The Celebration of Light is taking place on Sunday, the 8th of October, the torches will start being lit from 7.00pm onwards, on Ghar Ilma Hill.
