“The Ministry for Gozo is committed to continue to promote culture in Gozo, together with the quality of tourism products we offer.” This was stated by the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana when she attended the fifth edition of a `Jazz Do’ event held at Mgarr, Gozo, at the weekend.
The entertainment was provided by Tony Pace’s Quartet, Gorg Curmi (Puse), Godwin Lucas and The Triton Trio from Sicily.
This popular event in the Gozo cultural calendar, particularly with jazz enthusiasts, has by now become synonymous with the port of Mgarr.
Flirting With Jazz – was the theme for the evening, and the audience enjoyed a blend of Latin American and smooth jazz.
The organisers of this annual event said that the aim is to provide space to the Maltese jazz groups and to promote jazz in Gozo, as well as encourage young musicians in the jazz genre.
Justyne Caruana hailed the jazz event as another success, attracting hundreds of visitors to the port of Mgarr. “It is a commitment of the Ministry for Gozo to breathe new life into this strategic area of Gozo,” she said.
“The culture of Gozo is widespread and diverse, we must therefore cultivate and strengthen it to compete as a tourist attraction for the thousands, with different interests, who visit every year,” the Minister said.
