Gozo autocross event held in aid of the Arka FoundationAssocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozziwill (ASMK) held a special Autocross pre-Championship event in Gozo at the weekend, in aid of the Arka Foundation.

It was a hot sunny day and the event attracted a good turnout of spectators to watch the programme of races.

The venue was at the Xhajma Racetrack in Xewkija, following an agreement reached with the Gozo Horse Racing Association to make use of their complex for this event.

This was the 4th event of this kind held in Gozo, and apart from the fundraising side of the event, ASMK said that the other aim was to showcase Autocross motorsport among Gozitan spectators end enthusiasts, who may find it difficult to travel to Ta Qali on Sunday’s to watch the Autocross cars in action on their home track.
Gozo autocross event held in aid of the Arka FoundationA temporary circuit was built in the centre of the track by members of the ASMK, which is an area never used for horse racing.

The ASMK said that the event was possible with the full cooperation of the Gozo Horse Racing Association Committee under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Mary Mifsud.

It added that the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana also supported the event in conjunction with the Gozo Sports Board and the Department of Works of Gozo.

A presentation of trophies, tokens and mementos to the winning drivers etc,took place at the end of the event.

The event was sponsored by ‘ASMK’ and `Pasta Poiatt.’
