16 local NGOs benefit from the Gozo Ministry’s NGO fund

The Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana has announced the publication of results for those Gozitan NGOs that will be benefit from the Ministry’s Non-Governmental Organisations Assistance Scheme.
A total of 38 submissions were received by NGOs operating in various voluntary sectors, with 16 selected as eligible to benefit from the scheme. The full list of the applications, including the 16 that qualified, is available for download here.
Dr Caruana said that the selection process was undertaken jointly with the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector.
The scheme was launched on the 12th of July this year aimed at improving the social, cultural, economic and ecological fabric of the Gozitan Society, as well as promoting and encouraging a culture of volunteering and the participation in volunteer activities in Gozo.
The Minister said that the scheme will stimulate the cooperation and networking between voluntary organisations and foster cooperation between them and the Ministry for Gozo through collaborative projects, initiatives and other activities.
The maximum amount of financial assistance by the NGOs was not to exceed € 5,000.for the implementation of projects, events and initiatives during this year.
Dr Caruana thanked all the voluntary organisation that submitted applications and stressed the Ministry’s commitment to the volunteering sector in Gozo.
While congratulating those that will benefit from this scheme this year, she said that the Ministry for Gozo also intends to launch another scheme in 2018 to further support the work of the voluntary sector in Gozo.
