Gozo Minister Dr Justyne Caruana, recently visited Mgarr harbour, where she spoke with several business owners regarding possible problems to be addressed in the area.
Among the complaints they pinpointed, was the fact that the area was in need of rehabilitation. Dr Caruana said that Ministry employees had already been instructed to carry out the works indicated.
Minister Caruana stressed the need for Mgarr Port and its surrounding areas to be given particular attention, because it is the entrance for all visitors to Gozo, and a welcoming view can leave a lasting first impression and experience of the island.
There should also be more cultural activities organised in the area, Dr Caruana said, such as the ones already staged year, including the Brass Festival and Jazz Do, with another performance of a Jazz Do being held at Mgarr this evening.
The Minister added that discussions have already taken place with the Cultural Section at the Ministry of possible future events to be held.
Dr Caruana concluded by saying that, “the Ministry is committed to broaden and extend the Gozitan cultural calendar, and supports any similar initiatives which give life to central locations such as Mgarr harbour.”
