Another book donation has been made to Malta Libraries by the National Book Council, consisting mainly of fiction literature for adult readers, art books and Melitensia.
The donated books will be distributed among local branches of Malta Libraries in Gozo and Malta over the coming weeks.
The donation was made by the manager of the Book Council, Mr John Grech, at the premises of the National Book Council in the presence of the CEO of Malta Libraries, Ms. Cheryl Falzon.
Already this year, the NBC said that it has made a total of 5 major donations, including a donation of Maltese literature made to Sir M.A Refalo Sixth Form in Victoria, Gozo, as part of the opening of the Summer Book Fest in July in the presence of the Minister for Gozo, Dr. Justyne Caruana.
A large selection of classical French literature and French language textbooks has also been donated to the Junior College.
St Nicholas College Dingli Primary also received a donation, this was on the occasion of World Book Day 2017.
The NBC said that more donations are planned for the near future, which will target other institutions such as hospitals and correctional centres.
These donations, it said, are part of an on-going effort by the National Book Council to fill the shelves of public and school libraries with high-quality reading material.
The NBC is urging members of the public to visit their local libraries more frequently and make fuller use of these essential cultural services.
