Fiori D'Argenta: Festival of culture, history, drama and traditionsXewkija Local Council will once again be organising the two-day cultural event – Fior D’Argenta. This event commemorates the Beheading of St John the Baptist, to whom the Rotunda church is dedicated and is celebrated by the local community on the feast day of the 29th of August.

A festival of culture, history, drama and traditions – Fior D’Argenta – is taking place on Monday and Tuesday, the 28th and 29th of August, in St John the Baptist Square, as well as the surrounding areas.

On Monday, starting from 8.00pm, there will be an evening of fun and games with – Giochi-It’s A Knockout – presented in collaboration with Mr Joe Louis Xiberras, where 4 teams from Xewkija will compete against each other to go in to the final which will be held in Marsalforn.

Tuesday, from at 9.00pm, will see a showcase of tradition, culture, heritage and religion. Following the internal feast at the Rotunda church there will be a band concert to entertain the audience present.

Traditional music `Ghana,’ will follow and later the Huggiega of San Gwann – Bonfire of St John – will take place. The event closes by the cutting and serving of the Torta tal-Bajtar.
