Gozo now has a Community Choir – It is a new choir, of mixed races, who meet together weekly, united by a love of music and singing.
The organisers said that there are no auditions – everyone can sing – and you do not have to be able to read music. Everyone over aged over 16, who may be interested (particularly Gozitans), is invited to join them and have some fun with music.
“The health benefits of singing are well documented, and given the rise in the number of choirs worldwide, singing in a choir is now considered to be cool. There is also the sheer joy of singing in a group with friends.”
The aim of the choir, it said, ” is to give something back to the community in which we live, by giving public performances, raising money for local charities, setting up concerts for old people’s homes, hospitals etc.”
The choir has an expanding repertoire of songs ranging from “Les Miserables” to “The Beatles” and lots in between.
The choir meets weekly on a Tuesday night between 7.00pm and 9.00pm, in the function room on the 3rd floor of Tigrija Palazz, situated at the main crossroads in Victoria.
The Community Choir said they are a very friendly group and encourage everyone to go along and give it a try.
Choir practice for tomorrow – 15th of August, will be held upstairs at the Parish Centre in Munxar due to Santa Marija feast in Victoria. Same time as above. The Parish Centre is just around corner from Lighthouse Supermarket.
